• development and use of property and managing the state and local approval processes; and
• advice on the financing of large development projects.

Due diligence investigations are also a large part of our work done by our lawyers. These due diligence investigations include review of the physical details of the property, review the leases of any tenants at the property, and review of the title to make sure the seller actually owns the property and there are no mortgages or other liens on the property.

When real estate disputes arise, our lawyers represent clients in court. Such litigation might concern breach of contract, zoning compliance, construction defect and encroachments, among other issues.

Mugomeza & Mazhindu Legal Practitioners is a law firm which has evolved over the years. The law firm was on its inception in 1994 founded and registered as Mutezo and Company Legal Practitioners. The law firm then changed its name to Mutezo & Mugomeza Legal Practitioners in December 2010. It changed its name again to Mugomeza & Mazhindu Legal Practitioners in January 2013.

Mugomeza & Mazhindu Legal Practitioners is governed in its operations by the Law Society of Zimbabwe which regulates the conduct and practice of all registered legal practitioners practising in Zimbabwe.

We advise around how best to protect the intellectual property that the client has or would like to develop. In trademark law, we conduct searches on trademarks proposed by the client and advise the client with respect to availability.

In cases where a client has already invested time, energy and money, and a prior use in a similar industry is found, discussions with a client might include modifying or even abandoning the client’s mark.

We also assist clients in patent drafting filing and registration.

We have considerable expertise in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, including supply of goods and services, agency, construction and engineering contracts, joint venture agreements, concession and shareholders agreements

We advise on and deal with a wide range of insolvency and corporate recovery and restructuring matters representing both secured and unsecured creditors, debtors, shareholders, directors and liquidators.

Our lawyers are also available to act as liquidators being registered Insolvency Practitioners. We have the following memberships through our lawyers ; Insolvency and Restructuring Association of Zimbabwe, South African Restructuring and Insolvency Practitioners Association and INSOL.
