How can I get my refund from a hotel reservation I didn't checked in

Please I reserved a hotel in the Bahamas. I made a mistake in the reservation date, I chose 21st March - 29th March instead of 19th April - 26th April, my dollar debit card was then charged 320 dollar+ for the first night which I did not check in, for I'm still very far away from the hotel destination. I'm in West Africa and my Visa to the Bahamas is still under processing. So I quickly called the hotel and explained to them but unfortunately, they said they couldn't refund my money. Please how can I get the refund? please I didn't even check in.
