This center of expertise is organized around specialized lawyers, covering, in advice and litigation, all aspects of intellectual property, new technologies and the exploitation of data.
Trademark law
UGGC Avocats supports its clients in the strategy of protecting their brands, according to their field of activity and the desirable geographical expansion. From the registration of trademarks, relying in particular on its Shanghai office, including the management of oppositions, actions for nullity or forfeiture and the drafting of operating contracts (assignment, license, coexistence, franchise), UGGC Avocats is present alongside its clients, in France and internationally, to ensure the protection of their brands throughout the value chain.
UGGC Avocats also assists its clients by conducting civil and criminal counterfeiting actions, which are often complex in the case of counterfeiting on the Internet and violation of distribution networks. The Firm notably assists major players in the fashion, watchmaking, cosmetics and food distribution sectors. It also conducts online domain name restitution procedures (UDRP and Syreli) for its clients.
The Firm also intervenes in disputes arising from contested trademark registrations before both French and Community authorities (EU Office for Intellectual Property/ex-OHIM and Court of the European Union). He advises his clients on the implications of the Community Package (2015 update of the European Trademark Directive and the Community Trademark Regulation).
Patent law
UGGC Avocats supports its clients in the negotiation and drafting of licensing contracts, patent co-ownership regulations, agreements on remuneration for inventions, as well as in the exploitation of know-how, with particular regard to the regulations of Community exemption, both in the scientific fields, as well as in the pharmaceutical, automobile and agri-food fields.

Copyright and design law
Copyright
In matters of copyright and related rights, the IP-IT team is active in the field of fashion and accessories creation, to support designers or their employers and sponsors (fashion houses, jewelry, leather goods …) and defend their copyright. the team is also an expert in the issue of copyright protecting works of art, emanating from public commissions (architecture) or independent artists (sculptors). In particular, she has good experience with exhibition contracts and a good knowledge of copyright issues faced by museums in the management of their collections.
UGGC Avocats also has practice and expertise in audiovisual production, image rights and publishing law and deals with questions of copyright and related rights relating thereto. In the fight against copyright counterfeiting on the Internet, the Firm conducts “take down notice” procedures and implementation of the liability of various online communication providers.
Design law
UGGC Avocats assists its clients with the registration of their designs and the negotiation of related operating contracts (assignment, license, coexistence), at the French, community or international level. The protection of designs and models and litigation concerning them are generally an opportunity to examine the accumulation of protection by copyright and three-dimensional trademark law. This applies to the fashion sector where the accumulation of protections is frequent but also concerns industrial designs and models (utensils, tableware, decorative objects, spare parts and connected objects).
