Jose Miguel de Leon (Jon) obtained his B.S. Computer Science degree (major information technology) from De La Salle University (DLSU) and his Juris Doctor degree from the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) School of Law. After being admitted to the Philippine Bar, he pursued his graduate studies at the National University of Singapore (NUS) with a specialization in Intellectual Property and Technology Law. He received a certificate on CopyrightX from the distance-learning initiative of Harvard Law School and Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society; and a certificate on Patent Information Search from the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL).
Jon specializes in responding to Registrability Reports and handling inter partes cases (i.e., filing and defending oppositions and petitions for cancellation), as he handled most of the inter partes cases of the local IP firm that he previously worked for. He gained in-depth knowledge in handling trademark prosecution matters through working for a foreign firm that handles the same.
