Uganda Law Society

The Uganda Law Society (ULS) serves as the national Bar Association for lawyers in Uganda, dedicated to enhancing the professional standards of its members and promoting justice across the country. Established by an act of Parliament in 1956, ULS operates under a governance framework led by an executive council with representatives from each of Uganda's four regions. The society's mission focuses on developing a skilled and empowered legal profession to foster access to justice, uphold the rule of law, and ensure good governance in Uganda.

ULS offers a comprehensive range of services to its members, including specialized practice groups, leadership opportunities, and involvement in diversity, advocacy, and public service initiatives. These efforts aim to enrich members' careers and provide platforms for professional growth. Additionally, ULS actively engages in activities designed to improve access to justice for indigent, marginalized, and vulnerable individuals through its Legal Aid Project, which operates multiple legal aid clinics and satellite offices nationwide.

Committed to integrity, competence, accountability, independence, and professionalism, ULS has earned a reputation as a proficient Bar Association. The society's dedication to promoting human rights and the rule of law is evident in its various initiatives and collaborations with partners such as UN Women, the International Rescue Committee, and the Royal Danish Embassy. Through these efforts, ULS continues to play a pivotal role in shaping Uganda's legal landscape and ensuring justice for all.
