Founded in 1951, Lau Chan & Ko was originally known as Tso & Hodgson.

Being one of the most established and progressive law firms in Hong Kong, we enjoy a rich history since the early years of Hong Kong’s development as a leading international financial centre. With our long tradition of excellence and wealth of experience, we are able to provide a complete range of legal services for large commercial entities as well as individuals through our different departments. Over the years, our firm has grown to over 80 staff and most of them have been working with us for many years. Some of the senior legal executives and clerks have been working in the field for over 30 years. In addition, our firm has trained many experienced and trustworthy lawyers and other legal staff of high quality. Their solid legal experience enables us to maintain our best services at all times. Without their effort, our firm could not have been supported by our loyal clients over half of the century. Property & Conveyancing Department

Over the years, Lau, Chan & Ko has built up an extensive network of clients and connections comprising property developers, public bodies, government agencies, enterprises, banks, financial institutions and individuals. For our long standing in Hong Kong, our firm has been instructed by various developers to advise and deal with project conveyancing, redevelopment of tenanted properties and development of small houses in New Territories. Our firm has also been chosen by over 40 well-known banks and financial institutions and lenders to handle property-related cases including mortgage transactions, project finance and sale and purchase of properties in HK and PRC. Lau, Chan & Ko is also one of the appointed solicitors for the Government of HKSAR to deal with the sale and purchase of properties under various housing schemes. These all make our Property and Conveyancing Department one of the strongest departments of the firm.

Civil Litigation Departmen

Lau, Chan & Ko handles a large volume of civil litigation cases each year. Our 50 years practice enables us to obtain wealth of experience develop and maintain an efficient back-up system. Most of our solicitors are legal aid panel solicitors in civil litigation. Our firm offers solid and high quality legal services in all aspects of civil litigation.

Criminal Litigation Department

Our firm has a wealth of experience in dealing with many criminal cases including,

1.	Sexual Offences-rape, indecent assault and operating a vice establishment;
2.	Drug-related Offences;
3.	Theft, Robbery, Burglary and Handling Stolen Goods;
4.	Fraud and other property Offences;
5.	Offences against the person - assault and battery, wounding and actual bodily harm;
6.	Offences under the Securities and Futures Ordinance - insider dealing, market manipulation, false trading, price rigging, disclosure of false or　misleading information;
7.	Intellectual property rights offences - trade mark offences, false trade 　descriptions and copyright infringements;
8.	Traffic offences including careless driving, reckless driving causing death;
9.	Triad-related Offences;
10.	Gambling-related Offences;
11.	Possession of forged visas and passports;
12	Use of forgery and false documents; and
13.	Serious offences including Homicide and Grievous Bodily Harm. We offer a 24- hour service to those arrested and accused of criminal offences.
