What is an International Notary Public
Notaries are currently appointed by the Chief Justice of the High Court of Hong Kong under the Legal Practitioners Ordinance (Chapter 159 of the Laws of Hong Kong). Apostille by the High Court of Hong Kong
Some documents that have been signed and stamped by a Hong Kong International Notary Public need to be signed at the Hong Kong High Court. Documents that need to be signed in the High Court are used in countries or territories that are members of the 1961 Hague Apostille Convention.
Foreign Office or Consulate Verification
Documents used in non-Hague Convention countries or regions, after being signed and stamped by an international notary public, must generally be verified by the diplomatic representative of the relevant country or region in the Hong Kong SAR to confirm the identity of the international notary public and its signature and seal. The style of the seal can only be used in that country or region.
