
Karen Berkeley
Karen Berkeley graduated from University College Cork in 2002 with a Bachelor of Law degree. Following her legal traineeship and completing the Law Society Final Examinations, she was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in February 2009. Karen was employed with Brophy Solicitors between June 2006 and September 2016. At Brophy Solicitors she ran a very busy immigration team over a ten year period, and she earned a great reputation as a leading immigration solicitor.
Karen has acquired substantial experience in taking rights-based cases against the State and public bodies on a range of issues such as immigration, asylum, housing and welfare matters. She has specialized in immigration law, which is her principal area of interest. She has always maintained a passion for her work within the immigration sector and enthusiastically works in the best interests of each of her clients.
Karen has acted on numerous immigration Judicial Review cases before the High Court, some of which have set important precedents within Irish immigration law. Karen is past member of the Board of Directors in Spirasi, a leading Irish NGO which supports the victims of torture. She is a long-standing volunteer with FLAC and previously developed her interests in the field of human rights while completing legal internships with the Irish Refugee Council.
