Founded in 1899
After qualifying as a Barrister and Solicitor in the State of Victoria, Australia, UK-born Charles Frederick Kennedy moved to London, qualified as a Solicitor in England and became a Partner at Paddison, Chapelle & Kennedy.
Over the years, Kennedy was in several partnerships: Kennedy, Danvers & Co; C. Frederick Kennedy & Co; Kennedy Lindo & Co; and Kennedy Genese & Co.
Sadly, Kennedy was taken ill and passed away in 1942 at the age of 79.
Genese recollects Kennedy well:

Insurance claims
Insurance threads across every single Kennedys office globally. It’s our core business and our international presence ensures that we understand the legal, business and regulatory issues that general insurers, reinsurers and life and health insurers face.
We handle the most complex insurance claims and coverage issues in the industry, through to more routine claims where we combine talent and specialist technology. We provide clear, commercially aware and pragmatic advice from leading specialists in their field, including trained mediators and arbitrators. Our clients receive the benefits of the powerful insights we gain into the ways legal processes operate in practice.
We work in partnership with consultants to develop claims handling and reporting systems with, and for, our clients. We also advise on drafting policy wordings, and are regularly instructed to pursue subrogated recoveries in jurisdictions throughout the world.
Corporate and commercial insurance
We provide advice to general insurers and life and health insurers on a wide range of corporate matters including mergers and acquisitions, divestments, investments, joint ventures and strategic alliances, business establishments, transfers of business, run-off arrangements, and outsourcing agreements, as well as commercial advice on employment, data protection, commercial disputes and competition issues.
On the regulatory side, we advise on licencing agreements, audits, solvency and derivate matters and dealing with compliance enquiries. We closely follow global and regional regulatory trends and work with the lead regulators including the Financial Stability Board (FSB), the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS), the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, in addition to liaising with local insurance, securities, pension and banking regulators.

The team work across the whole spectrum of real estate services, from commercial occupier matters in the retail, leisure, hospitality, manufacturing, telecoms, education, local government, corporate private and public sectors, through to supporting property development projects, finance, planning and investment.
