Prakken d'Oliveira

Since 2014 we have been using the name Prakken d'Oliveira Human Rights Lawyers. A name that does justice to the vision of our founders,  Prof. Ties Prakken and Prof. dr. Ulli Jessurun d'Oliveira , and our track record since the late 1980s in the field of human rights, international law and criminal law. 

Many of our lawyers have roots in science and contribute to defining the boundaries of the law based on the needs of the practice. Especially in the field of human rights, we have conducted groundbreaking and high-profile proceedings, including against the Dutch state. For example, we have become known for the case of Bosnia against Serbia & Montenegro, the compensation for the victims of the Indonesian Rawagede or the Salah Sheekh case, as a result of which the general situation in the country of origin has started to play a greater role in asylum cases. As one of the few offices in Europe, we master all aspects of international criminal law and are active at all major international criminal tribunals, from The Hague to Phnom Penh in Cambodia. The character of our office has remained, strengthened and developed over the years. We now also translate our knowledge of international law into advisory processes for companies to help them do business in a socially responsible way, nationally and internationally.
