Business
We believe our clients' business models and interests come before any legal archaic technicalities. This enables us to strive to find modern solutions and instruments to serve our clients' business models. In addition to this, all of our partners have been policymakers for many years, and they know public policy inside out. They understand how policy, regulation, and politics might affect our clients’ businesses and advise accordingly.
Employment & Labor
Some aspects of Armenian Labor still have some archaic regulations reminiscing of its past. This is due to the fact that Armenia was one of the former Soviet republics. In the current regulatory framework, companies need modern approaches for building relations with their employees. The firm has managed to give modern solutions to the toughest employment law issues under Armenian law.
Immigration
Many Armenians from the Diaspora, as well as foreigners, have been choosing Armenia either as their base or as a home away from home. We do a lot of handholding here, often inter alia accompanying our client to the medical clinic for the required medical checkup! You can read or client notes on immigration and naturalization on our website www.tk.partners.
Intellectual Property
As the Armenian start-up industry is growing, IP protection is becoming more sought. Sometimes, “IP perpetrators” play against the rules of the game, making us roll up our sleeves and take action and defend our clients’ IP rights.
Lawsuits & Disputes
Here at TK & Partners, we love Abraham Lincoln’s words: “Discourage litigation. Persuade your neighbors to compromise whenever you can. As a peacemaker, the lawyer has a superior opportunity of being a good man. There will still be business enough”. In our everyday work, we strive to be good men and women, by trying to create bridges between our clients and their counterparts. We do so because we also strongly abide by President Kennedy’s famous quote: “Let us never negotiate out of fear. But let us never fear to negotiate”. We leave our fear to negotiate at the door because we know how to haul anyone to court and litigate with “tooth and nail”. So yes, negotiation and litigation skills are two qualities you can find at the firm.
Bankruptcy & Debt
Since many of our clients are lenders, often we need to advise them on the perils of corporate insolvency and how to navigate through the various technicalities on enforcing contracts or collateral, business wind-up, and working with the insolvency court and managers, as well as other debtors. You can read or client notes on bankruptcy and insolvency on our website www.tk.partners.
Criminal Defense
Sometimes, our clients fall victim to corporate or financial fraud and need our assistance. In these cases, we work tirelessly with law enforcement agencies and the court system to ensure that the fraudsters and charlatans are put away and damages are duly compensated. Also, Armenian has introduced criminal liability for corporations. To decrease potential risks, we work with compliance teams to set up the required guardrails, policies, and procedures.
Real Estate
As an asset class, real estate is often considered to be one of the most complicated ones due to a huge body of laws and regulations affecting the transactions. Over the years we have accumulated an encyclopedia of knowledge and experience on various real estate transactions, inter alia construction, transfer, lease, development, purchase, financing, etc.
Media, Technology and Telecoms
We have been advising various clients in these fields regarding regulatory compliance, transactions with counterparts, IP rights, GDPR and privacy law compliance.
