Contract law in Douala, Cameroon, as in the rest of the nation, derives from the OHADA (Organisation for the Harmonisation of Business Law in Africa) Uniform Act related to contract law, along with Cameroon’s civil law system. OHADA, created in 1993, includes 17 West and Central African countries including Cameroon. It regulates contract formation, validation, performance, and its consequences of breach or termination. It supersedes any other conflicting national laws and leaves minimal margin for national law.
