Canada's Parliament gave Royal Assent to the "One Canadian Economy Act", a major piece of legislation aimed at strengthening the domestic economy by removing internal barriers to trade and fast-tracking major infrastructure projects.

The Act has two primary components: the "Free Trade and Labour Mobility in Canada Act," which harmonizes regulations to allow goods, services, and licensed workers to move more freely between provinces and territories, and the "Building Canada Act," which creates a streamlined two-year approval process for projects deemed to be in the national interest, such as pipelines and mines. The government has framed the legislation as a crucial response to external economic pressures, designed to build a more resilient and unified national market while mandating robust consultation with Indigenous peoples on all designated projects.
