If someone has filed a complaint against you alleging physical assault, it is important to handle the matter seriously and through proper legal channels. Under Federal Decree-Law No. 31 of 2021 (UAE Penal Code), assault allegations are treated as criminal offences and require factual evidence to be proven.
You should promptly visit the nearest police station or Public Prosecution to file a counter-complaint denying the allegation and requesting an official investigation to determine whether the claim is false or malicious. Emphasize that there is no medical report or material evidence proving any injury or physical harm.
Keep any messages, witnesses, or recordings that can confirm you did not assault the complainant or that you were elsewhere at the time.
If you are summoned for questioning, respond calmly and with the assistance of a lawyer. Request to review the police report and any medical certificates submitted.
Focus your defence on the absence of intent and lack of physical evidence, noting that a verbal accusation alone is insufficient without corroborating proof
If the investigation reveals that the complaint was false or malicious, you have the right to file a criminal case for false reporting under Article 324 of the UAE Penal Code, and to claim civil compensation for any moral or financial damages caused by the accusation.
