Community Law Otago provides free legal information, assistance, representation and education to the people of Otago. Free legal advice is available by appointment at the Dunedin office or through a network of outreach clinics across Otago, enabling access to justice for people who may not otherwise be able to access legal services.
The centre has earned recognition for community service in law, including multiple New Zealand Law Awards, underscoring its reputation within the legal community for public service and high quality client support.
The organisation relies on a combination of paid lawyers, a legal education worker and administrative staff, together with a large pool of volunteers and law students who assist with intake, case work and education programs, with seven lawyers, one legal education worker and three administrative staff supported by more than 100 law student volunteers.
