Full credit must go to the administrative support staff, without them Evans Bailey would not function as effectively as it does.
Professional friendly service is the key to our business, and our clients’ business too.
Our History
Evans Bailey came into existence when Ron Evans and Gerald Bailey joined forces to form Evans Bailey & Co, when Mr R A Houston, of the firm Houston, Evans & Co left to practise as a barrister sole.
Andrew Fletcher joined the firm 1981 and became partner in 1984. In 1994 Evans Bailey & Co purchased Fletcher Gibson & Co and became known as Evans Bailey Fletcher Gibson.
In 2000, the firm moved premises across the road to its current location, and dropped the names Fletcher Gibson to practise in the current form of Evans Bailey.
Catherine Starr joined the firm in 1996, became an associate in 2000 and director in 2014.
Andrew and Catherine welcomed Judy to the firm as a senior associate in 2019, and she became a director in 2021.
In 2015, Gerald Bailey retired from Evans Bailey, after being in practice in Pukekohe and Hamilton since 1963. Gerald is a well known Hamilton personality, having been, at various times, the Chancellor of the University of Waikato, board member of New Zealand Cricket, manager of New Zealand cricket teams on overseas trips, and been both Chairman and President of the Northern Districts Cricket Association, of which he is now a life member. He is also a Companion of the Queen’s Service Order (QSO), and was awarded an honorary Doctorate from the University of Waikato.
Another notable employee includes Tom Ingram, until recently a well-known Hamilton barrister, but now a District Court Judge in Tauranga.
