history and origin
Zimmern Law Firm has a long history and was established in 1935 by Frederick Zimmern, one of the first Eurasians to immigrate to Hong Kong. After World War II, Hong Kong's economy recovered and its real estate business flourished. Shi Wen & Co. was one of the first law firms to provide legal services for the sale and purchase of strata properties in Hong Kong.
The partners of S&W Lawyers have been actively involved with the Law Society of Hong Kong for many years and have held key positions within the Society and other government, professional and commercial bodies. The former partner, Mr. Zhang Guantian, served as the secretary-general and two-term president of the Law Society of Hong Kong (1965 to 1967), and the former partner, Mr. Zhang Ziyuan, served as the vice-president of the Hong Kong Law Society. Mr. Wu Bin, the current senior partner, served as the President of the Law Society of Hong Kong three times (1993-1996), and served as the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data in Hong Kong from 2005 to 2010. The current managing partner, Mr. Lin Xinqiang, was appointed as a Justice of the Peace by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. He was also the President of the Law Society of Hong Kong from 2013 to 2014. He is currently the president of the Global Chinese Lawyers Association and the vice president of Guangdong Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Promotion Association. In November 2021, following the merger with Grandall Law Firm (Hong Kong), Shi Wen Law Firm will officially change its name to Grandall Law Firm (Hong Kong) in March 2022.
