The Criminal Code
The Penal Code lists both crimes and violations. Violations involve lesser offenses such as public intoxication. Violations are usually dealt with by a subdistrict court judge. Crimes are more serious than violations. As a rule, crimes are dealt with by the police judge (one judge) or by the three-judge panel (three judges).

What is a subpoena?
A summons is a legal document summoning you to appear in court. The summons states in which court you must appear. This can be the three-judge chamber or the police judge, but also the juvenile judge or, for example, the subdistrict court judge. The summons states exactly what you are suspected of and where / when you allegedly committed the criminal offense in question.
Can you object to a summons?
Do you believe that you have wrongly received a summons, for example because you are innocent? Then it is possible to submit an objection. You must do this within a period of eight days after receiving the summons and the notice of objection must be filed with the clerk of the court. It goes without saying that I can help you prepare and submit the notice of objection.
A lawyer is recommended in criminal cases
You will be advised that you are under no obligation to engage a lawyer. In criminal cases you are allowed to conduct your own defense. If you are suspected of committing a criminal offense, it is always advisable to engage a lawyer to assist you. Are you unable to pay for legal assistance? Then I can possibly submit an application for subsidized legal assistance for you. In this case you only pay a personal contribution. The amount of this personal contribution depends on your income.
