Accidents & Injuries

Personal Injury

A personal injury does not necessarily mean a physical injury like a bruise or a broken bone, it may encompass many different types of harm that can befall you in your everyday life. That’s why our personal injury experts are experienced in dealing with a wide variety of matters. If a personal injury has been caused by someone else, you may be entitled to claim compensation for the injuries you have sustained.

It doesn’t matter whether you were in Hong Kong or abroad, at work or in a public place. Every personal injury claim is different, so any compensation you might receive depends on a number of factors such as the cause of the injuries you have sustained, the severity of your injuries and any other damages that need to be claimed for such as loss of earnings. We can help you assess the merits of any personal injuries claim. Going to court may not always be the most appropriate course of action due to the costs and inherent litigation risk. Where appropriate our professionals are shrewd negotiators who can guide you in reaching the best outcome in your circumstances.

Personal injuries can happen in many different unexpected ways. Regardless of how or where you have been injured through someone else’s negligence, we’re here to help you through it.

Divorce, separation or any form of family breakdown is a stressful time. We pride ourselves on the ability to work with clients through emotional and financial upheavals and to minimise the adverse effect on the parties, the children and the assets. No matter how complicated the issues, we aim to help you resolve them as quickly and amicably as possible by finding common ground and practical solutions. Our seasoned and experienced advisors will act as your guide through a difficult time in your life.

Hong Kong matrimonial matters raise specific issues requiring a great deal of skill and resourcefulness as international elements frequently arise. Whether the husband or wife are of different nationalities or because joint property and assets are held outside of Hong Kong, this international component is now the norm. Therefore, it is critical for our clients to feel comfortable with their advisor and that the advisor is familiar with every aspect of their matrimonial situation. From experience, we know that each case is unique and requires a tailor-made solution, so our first priority is to listen to you and comprehend your situation.

No-one enters a relationship with a view to splitting up, but there has also been a growing trend of couples wishing to cater for the worst-case scenario should there be a break down in the relationship and we have been asked to advise on Prenuptial and Post-Nuptial agreements involving substantial assets and can advise on the choice of jurisdiction and the applicable law most appropriate to facilitate the enforceability of such agreements.

Wills, Probate and Estate Administration

A clear and unambiguous will is an integral part of estate planning and is the best way to ensure your family is catered for after you have gone. Our experienced advisors will guide you through the drafting process and advise what is best for your particular circumstances.  Drafting a will is also an ideal time to review your financial affairs and ascertain how you can make appropriate provision for the next generation.

Losing a loved one is a distressing time and the last thing you need is the probate and administration process exacerbating matters. The role of executor is an onerous one, not only can it take considerable time and effort to put the affairs of the deceased in order, but it can test relationships with other family members.  The legal obligations that come with the role can also leave you open to personal liability, so it is important that executors and trustees receive pragmatic advice about their roles and responsibilities.

The process can be made simpler with the right advisors at your side. We can help steer you through the complexities of estate administration and the grant of probate, making the process as smooth and expedient as possible.
