Residence Permit under the Friendly Countries Agreement.

PERMANENT RESIDENT AS FOREIGN NATIONALS OF SPECIFIC COUNTRIES WHO MAINTAIN FRIENDLY, PROFESSIONAL, ECONOMIC AND INVESTMENT RELATIONS WITH THE REPUBLIC OF PANAMA

This Residence Permit is granted to nationals of certain countries, by virtue of the friendship and collaboration agreements that the Republic of Panama has signed with said countries. Currently, this list consists of 50 countries, according to Executive Decree No. 226 of July 20, 2021. Foreigners and their dependents (spouse, children under 25 years of age, and parents) can apply for this visa. This visa grants a provisional residence permit for two years and after this period has elapsed, they can opt for permanent residence with the right to naturalization in the future. The times for naturalization depend on the nationality of the applicant.

Requirements:

  1. Power and Request (notarized).
  2. Three (3) photographs.
  3. Duly verified copy of passport.
  4. Criminal Record Certificate.
  5. Health Certificate.
  6. Certified Check for B/250.00 in favor of the National Treasury.
  7. Certified Check for B/800.00 in favor of the National Migration Service.
  8. Personal Background Affidavit Form.
  9. Document proving the purpose for establishing your residence (economic or professional activity to be carried out, investment in real estate or a fixed term deposit for the amount of B/.200,000.00).
  10. Copy of your national identity document or ID card.
  11. In the case of dependents: Letter of responsibility / Proof of kinship / Proof of address / If over 18 years of age, present a certificate of being single and certified studies. Bank certification or account statement for the last month that reflects a balance of no less than four average figures or another that demonstrates your income and is acceptable to the National Migration Service.
