Mackenzie Elvin Law is a progressive Tauranga law firm operating across the wider Bay of Plenty.

The foundation of Mackenzie Elvin Law is based in a down-to-earth, and family-friendly approach.

In the early 80s, Fiona Mackenzie founded the firm with one thing in mind – to work with local families and businesses from her family home, providing expert legal advice while juggling motherhood.

Then, with husband Graeme Elvin, a commercial and trust law specialist, and Marcus Wilkins, an experienced property and agribusiness lawyer, this trio of partners built a reputation for excellent legal service. Forty years on, Mackenzie Elvin Law is still grounded in those values – and is still working from the original family home.

Along with Tom Elvin’s admission to the partnership in mid 2018 and Rebecca Savage, Thomas Refoy-Butler and Jason Bywater-Lutman in 2021, Mackenzie Elvin Law continues to grow in numbers and expertise. Their team now numbers over 30 and includes top lawyers with specialist and international experience.

The intention with which Fiona founded the firm continues. Working on your level. No egos. Walking with you. Providing expert legal guidance.

Whether you’re selling or purchasing a property or business, managing the intricacies of family trusts, navigating agri-business issues, working through the consequences of relationship breakdown or the death of a family member and associated inheritance issues, or needing strategic advice or Court representation, we’ve got the experience to help. No matter or conflict is too complex. And we’re grounded enough to bring a human understanding to your situation. People are at the heart of what we do. We’re straight-talkers. Our advice is clear and level-headed. No confusing lawyer speak, and no judgement either. And when you leave our home office, you should feel supported, and know where you stand.
