History of the Firm
MINKAH-PREMO, OSEI-BONSU, BRUCE-CATHLINE & PARTNERS (MPOBB) is a firm that has lawyers and staff of varied backgrounds providing integrated legal services. The firm has its roots in Minkah-Premo & Co (MPAC) which was established in 1996 through the joint vision of Justice Kusi-Minkah Premo and Stephen Oppong J.A. With a vision to build a commonwealth for lawyers in private practice, it started its operation from Kumasi and extended it to Accra, with its office location at Adabraka, near Graphic Road. The Accra practice was run by Justice Kusi-Minkah Premo and Wallace Bruce-Cathline as Partners and was later joined by Isaac Emmil Osei-Bonsu.
The Board of the firm which was set up as a limited liability expanded to include Akenten Appiah Menkah (a lawyer, politician and prominent industrialist), Professor Ofosu-Armaah (an eminent lawyer and academic) as Chairman and James Victor Gbeho (a diplomat) as the first non-executive directors. Until the expansion, the firm was solely guided by its Honorary Partner, Ehunabobirim Prah Agyensaim VI, Paramount Chief of the Assin Owirenkyi Traditional Area (Assin Kushea), known in private life as Wellington E. Jonah.
The firm grew to have a Sunyani office which was run by Hon Kwasi Ameyaw Cheremeh. In May 2002, the firm relocated to its current location in Labone. After several expansions, the Accra branch of the firm is now housed in a built-for-purpose six-floor office building on the Labone site, known as Bruce Towers.
As a commonwealth for lawyers the firm grew to have more equity partners comprising Premo, Bruce-Cathline, Oppong, Ameyaw, Osei-Bonsu, Akuoko, Gyau, Akwesi, Owusu Ansah and Adu Boahen. For his elevation to the bench, Oppong JA exited the firm just as Hon Cheremeh did to enable him pursue political office. Cheremeh’s exit eventually brought an end to the Sunyani branch.
With lawyers in Accra and Kumasi specializing in various branches of law, the firm prides itself as a conservative but dynamic legal services provider.

Dogmatism in principles of law but pragmatism in its application to our clients benefit
This team’s work covers the gamut of laws. The firm’s academic research assignments from clients are handled by this team, in addition to the evaluation of legal options in Post-Project Audits and Contract Management assessment. Embedded in the team’s practice is ADR, where our skills in negotiation and mediation processes have been of tremendous assistance to our clients.
This is especially so in situations where it has proved cost effective and time-saving to settle issues in an amicable out-of court setting, rather than in the time-wasting process that characterizes our judicial system at present. The use of the court processes, however, in the realisation of a just outcome has been our hallmark in our phenomenal bridging of the gap between the law and justice.
