Pro Bono SG is the charity arm of the Law Society of Singapore and operates with a mission to enable access to justice for the vulnerable and disadvantaged. It began in 2007 as the Pro Bono Services Office and later evolved into Pro Bono SG, reflecting a national reach and ongoing expansion. The organization is a registered charity with Institution of a Public Character status and, in FY 24/25, supported over 16,000 individuals and community organisations, building a track record of legal awareness, guidance and representation. It was renamed Pro Bono SG in 2022 to reflect the commitment of everyone in Singapore to embrace the mission of doing good in the community.
The firm relies on a broad network of volunteers and professional staff to deliver services. It offers free basic legal guidance and one on one consultations through online and selected physical clinics, and it provides legal representation for certain criminal charges and civil cases, including family justice matters, through its pro bono schemes and community clinics. The organization has a volunteer base of over 1,000 registered volunteers supporting its programs and, since its inception, has leveraged pro bono resources such as the Criminal Legal Aid Scheme to deliver defense for deserving defendants.
In addition to its ongoing community outreach, Pro Bono SG has launched Community Law Centres in the North East District in 2023 and in the North West District in 2024, and in 2025 it launched the Migrant Workers' Law Centre @ MWC to extend on-site legal assistance to migrant workers. The Migrant Workers' Law Centre is housed at the Migrant Workers' Centre on Serangoon Road and is supported by the Migrant Workersโ Assistance Fund to provide on-site legal guidance and representation for issues including work permits, salary disputes, repatriation and other employment matters.
