The firm was founded in February 2019 by two highly experienced Jersey lawyers, David Steenson and Paul Nicholls both former partners of one of the largest international offshore law firms.
Unlike most Jersey law firms we are not a full service practice. We only practise our speciality: Litigation and Dispute Resolution. This means we are able to represent clients where other Jersey firms have conflicts of interest.
We provide practical, cost-effective solutions and are committed to delivering the very highest quality of service to all our clients.
If you need an experienced, effective lawyer – talk to us first.

Accidents & Injuries
Our dedicated personal injury and clinical negligence team have considerable practical experience in this field of law and have successfully acted in several of Jersey’s most high value personal injury and clinical negligence cases.
Unlike many other Jersey firms we are 100% committed to claimant work. We only represent the injured party, never the Defendant’s insurers. We also believe that our lawyers have more experience of successfully concluding personal injury/clinical negligence claims than any other Jersey law firm.
Where appropriate we offer “no win no fee” agreements so that if your case is unsuccessful, you won’t pay a penny.
Our team provides support and guidance in what can be very challenging circumstances. Your legal team will work with you and your family to ensure the best possible resolution following your injury.
The type of work we undertake includes:
- accident at work compensation claims
- attendance at inquests
- catastrophic injury claims
- criminal injury claims
- fatal accident claims
- faulty product claims
- holiday accident claims
- road traffic accident claims
- sexual abuse compensation claims
- sports injury claims
- spinal injury claims
We offer immediate legal representation and provide a sympathetic, dedicated service through the entire process, from arranging rehabilitation to final settlement negotiations and contested Court hearings.
Employment & Labor
We advise on all aspects of Jersey Employment Law and have experience dealing with the full range of employment issues including:
- Claims for unfair dismissal
- Claims for constructive dismissal
- Claims for breach of contract
- Claims for enforcement of restrictive covenants
We also regularly advise employees in relation to compromise agreements following the termination of employment.
Recent work highlights include successfully obtaining significant damages for a senior airline executive following Royal Court proceedings for wrongful dismissal and representing a leading financial institution in resisting claims for damages and injunctive relief following breaches of restrictive covenants by one of its directors.
Bankruptcy & Debt
We have considerable experience in dealing with all aspects of Jersey Bankruptcy and Insolvency.
Our practice extends to:
- Advising on asset recovery actions prior to and post insolvency procedures
- Advising officers and directors on duties and liabilities
- Pursuing and contesting désastre, dégrèvement and remise de biens applications
- Winding up Jersey companies
We also undertake a significant amount of cross-border international insolvency work, representing foreign insolvency practitioners seeking recognition and assistance in Jersey both under the statutory regime and pursuant to principles of comity.
Paul Nicholls is an active member of ARIES (the Association of Restructuring and Insolvency Experts) and is often instructed by insolvency practitioners (foreign and local), financial institutions and private individuals.
Most recently Paul acted for the respondent company in Re Harbour Fund II L.P. v ORB a.r.l. and Litigation Capital Funding where for the first time the Royal Court declined to exercise its discretion to appoint an English administrator over a Jersey resident company.
Lawsuits & Disputes
We undertake all forms of Litigation and Dispute Resolution.
In addition to Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution the firm has specialism in the following areas:
- Banking and Finance Litigation
- Commercial Contract Disputes
- Construction and Engineering Disputes
- Debt Collection
- Professional Negligence
- Property Litigation
- Reputational Protection/Defamation
- Shareholder and Partnership Disputes
We focus on helping our clients to avoid disputes becoming litigious wherever possible. From the outset, we work with our clients to develop a clear strategy for managing any dispute in a way which identifies and analyses the risks, optimises the pressure points and seeks out the opportunities for resolution, all with the objective of cost effectively meeting the desired commercial outcome.
We are always mindful of early dispute resolution and the benefits of alternative dispute resolution processes such as mediation.
Where a dispute cannot be avoided, our formidable experience as litigators means that we are well placed to manage the most complex and demanding of disputes.
Our approach and focus increase the prospect of a successful outcome, whether in litigation, or some other form of alternative dispute resolution.

We offer a personal service tailored to your needs. We will always keep you informed of developments on your case and will ensure that you understand what is happening and why it is happening.

When you choose us to represent you, you can be assured that you will be in safe and experienced hands.
David and Paul are both experienced criminal defence lawyers who regularly appear before the Magistrate’s Court, the Royal Court and the Jersey Court of Appeal.
Most recently Paul successfully represented a Defendant charged with attempted murder, grave and criminal assault and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
David was appointed as a Crown Advocate in 2015.
