Intellectual Property
The firm and several of its solicitors are registered with the International Trademarks
Association (INTA) and act as trademark agents to international and local companies
and institutions. The Law Crest LLP has established itself as experts in the protection

Bankruptcy & Debt
The firm is also engaged in debt recovery by local banks, non-bank financial
institutions, foreign financial institutions and the Asset Management Corporation of
Nigeria (AMCON) and adopts the most practical and timeous means of recovering
debts. Litigation is regarded as a last option. The Firm has been involved in several
high-profile loan recoveries and work-outs including the recent work-out of an
exposure of over N19 billion to a financial institution via an asset swap. The Debt
Recovery, as well as the Insolvency Practice of the Firm, are led by the Managing
Partner, Anthony Nwaochei who is a Fellow of the Business Recovery & Insolvency
Practitioners Association of Nigeria (BRIPAN) a member body of INSOL. The

Mana is an Associate in the Firm. He studied at the University of Jos where he bagged his Bachelor of Laws degree with a Second- Class Upper division and also a Second -Class Upper division at the Nigerian Law School (B.L).
He is a member of the Business Advisory Team, he has been involved in providing advisory support on various corporate, commercial transactions and regulatory compliance to clients. Mana is a team player and strives to provide the most viable solutions to Clients’ needs. He’s an astute member of the Nigerian Bar association and an Alumni, Study of the United States Institute.

Tony is the Managing Partner and heads the Business Advisory Practice Team of The Law Crest LLP. Prior to assuming his role as founding Managing Partner of the Firm, Tony, between 1994 and 1999 was the Company Secretary & General Counsel of Societe Bancaire Merchant Bankers, a Swiss/French owned Banking institution, licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and over-saw the Human Resources and Corporate Services departments of the Bank as well.
Tony Is a consummate solicitor who regularly advises on Investments; Mergers, Acquisitions & Corporate Restructuring; Corporate Governance & Regulatory Compliance; Construction & Real Estate; and Business Recovery & Insolvency and in the course of his work over the years has advised on a significant number of complex commercial transactions involving some of the biggest players in the Nigerian economy. Tony is an astute Insolvency & Business Recovery practitioner who is frequently appointed as a liquidator and receiver/manager by leading financial institutions.
He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, International Bar Association, International Trademarks Association (INTA) and Capital Market Solicitors Association. He is also a Fellow of the Business Recovery and Insolvency Practitioners Association of Nigeria (BRIPAN) on whose Council he sits and is the immediate past Chairman of the Employment & Industrial Relations Committee of the Section on Business Law of the Nigerian Bar Association. Tobenna heads the firm's finance, energy & major projects practice group. He is admitted to practice in Nigeria, and in England and Wales, and has had significant practice experience in both jurisdictions.
Tobenna's core areas of practice are energy and natural resources; corporate finance; project finance; public private-partnerships; construction & real estate and mergers and acquisitions. He has been involved in most of the firm's energy and natural resources transactions; recent matters in this area include advising the borrower in a US$450 million financing in respect of a participating interest in an oil mining lease, and advising the acquirer in the acquisition of a major oil servicing company as part of an offshore takeover of the parent company. He recently led the team that advised the acquirer in a US$600 million debt restructuring and acquisition for a major oil and gas company in Nigeria.
Tobenna has also done significant work in project finance, public private partnerships and real estate in Nigeria and worked on various ground breaking project finance, public private partnership and construction & real estate initiatives when he worked as legal adviser to the London Borough of Barnet on Urban Regeneration Projects.
Tobenna has, in the course of his career, facilitated training courses accredited by the Law Society of England and Wales, which focus on infrastructure development and urban law. He currently serves as chairman of the board of the Institute of Continuing Legal Education of the Nigerian Bar Association and was the immediate past Chairman of the continuing professional development committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) (Lagos branch). He is also a member of the national executive committee of the NBA.
Tobenna obtained a bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and was admitted to the Nigerian Bar in 2000, and admitted as a solicitor of the senior courts of England and Wales in 2005. He holds an LLM in corporate finance law from the University of Westminster.
