Can I appeal a civil judgment in China after missing the deadline due to hospitalization?

I received the written judgment in a contract dispute, but I was hospitalized and didn’t file within the time limit. I have medical records and proof of when I was discharged. Is there a way to restore the appeal period or apply for a late appeal?

For most civil cases in China, if you miss the deadline for appeal, you can still seek remedies via applying retrial of the judgement, as long as such judgement has become valid within 6 months.
