I'm planning to register a small business in China as a sole proprietor (个人独资企业) and I’m unsure which authorities to approach, what documents are needed, and how long the process usually takes. Also, what are the typical costs, do I need a registered capital, and can I complete the registration online without legal help?

In China, normally business, whether small or big, shall be registered with the local market administrative bureau.

Documents like Chapters of Association, Investor's information,  Corporate Financial System, and etc. may be needed, the exact documentation may differ a little from city to city.
