Applying for Indonesian citizenship.

In Indonesia
Last Updated: Dec 5, 2025
I have lived and worked in Indonesia for 12 years.
Am I able to apply for an Indonesian passport?
I'm no longer married, but would like to start a small business here.

Many thanks.

Dear Client, You cannot directly “apply for an Indonesian passport”; you must first become an Indonesian citizen, then you are entitled to an Indonesian passport. Under Indonesian law, long stay and past marriage to an Indonesian do not automatically make you Indonesian. You must go through a naturalization (citizenship) process under Law Number 12 of 2006 on the Citizenship of the Republic of Indonesia. Thank you.
