Urgent: Need Criminal Civil Malpractice Attorney For US Citizen in Cancun

In Mexico
Last Updated: Feb 10, 2026
Dear Counsel,
My 35 year old niece went to a treatment center in Cancun Mexico a few weeks ago and after 2 days of arriving (still detoxing) a doctor approached her with a recommendation to have a Bufo session. She agreed and during this session he sexually assaulted her. The assault was caught on camera and the doctor is now in jail. My niece returned to the treatment center and is still there accompanied by her mother, my sister. We are in depart need of legal representation. They have presented my niece and sitter with a legal document and expect them either sign or leave the facility. My niece is still under a lot of medication including morphine, Seroquel, orlanzapine, gabapentin and god knows what else they have been giving her to help with her what seems like psychotic episodes each morning. She feels like the doctor put a cord in her chest and is pulling the life out of her. She is is excrutiating pain. She is. not sleeping or eating well and they are coercing her to sign or leave. We are seeking safety for my niece first and foremost. They are not releasing medical records. This is a licensed clinic. So a safe transfer to another facility is impossible. Is there anything you can do to help? I feel once my niece is stable further legal action will be brought upon the facility and the doctor who assaulted her. Please email or call me at your convenience. [contact info removed]
Thank you for your time and consideration,

I'm deeply concerned about your niece's situation and can provide immediate legal assistance to protect her safety, secure her medical records, and challenge the coercive demands of the treatment center. My first step will be to obtain a protective order that prevents the facility from forcing any signatures or discharge while we assess her condition, and to demand the full release of her medical files so we can evaluate the alleged assault and any malpractice. To move quickly, please forward any documentation you have received from the clinic (the legal notice, intake forms, and any correspondence), the video of the assault, and any medical records you can obtain, preferably via a secure encrypted email or a protected file-sharing service. Once I review these materials I can file the necessary motions with the local courts in Cancún, coordinate with trusted Mexican counsel, and arrange for a safe transfer to an appropriate facility if needed. I am ready to begin work immediately and can discuss fees, confidentiality, and next steps at your convenience—please let me know the best phone number or time for a call, or feel free to email me directly.

Sincerely,
