They said I have just 24 hours to vacate as soon as my rent is finished and have been getting a lot of thread every day concerning this .. have run into depression and I'm not at peace anymore, we are four occupants in this apartment facing the same issues with them and they're not ready to give a listening ears but chose to be threatening me with police and lawyer

Hi!
Take a deep breath. I want to encourage you and to also tell you that you have every right to be protected by Law. All states' tenancy and rent laws in Nigeria were made to protect mostly tenants. Going by your case, the landlord has right to increase his rent but he must do it within the ambit of the law.

You may need to check your tenancy agreement to see if any of the terms centred around rent increment which I believe might be inserted in one of the paragraphs. Also check the notice period for which the landlord should notify you of willingness to increase your rent. This will help any lawyer to further advise you appropriately.

Be that as it may, if there is no rent agreement, you are more favoured by tenancy and rent law particularly if you are not owing any rent. As per the threat to life, you must be able to prove that there is actual threat adversing your situation before that can succeed.

In all, you are surely protected irrespective of your situation. I will advise you to seek further assistance from a Lawyer and/or proceed to the office of public defender around you.

Cheers!
