Landlord rent increments and breach of agreement.

My landlord and I were in good terms when I lend him a large sum of money in 2024. The agreement was he shouldn't bother paying back but instead use it as my advanced payment of 5 years rent. Now my landlord hasn't made mention of the money and he told me that he wants to increase the rent. That, a rent which was meant to cover up for 5yrs will now coverup for 2yrs because of the increment. I refuse to agree to it and it's been a year now and he didn't talk about it with me anymore. He avoided every conversation pertaining to the rent or increment. From past experiences from people, I was told that he might have taken legal action to send me out without me knowing and it's up to a year now. What can I do? I don't want my money back, I want it as the rent for 5yrs we agreed on even if he decides to pay me back now. What legal action can I take? Can I refuse the money and not pack out? The landlord is a very cunning man.

Remember that a landlord has the right to increase rent (after 3 years in Lagos). The landlord however, must serve a rent increment notice in advance the same way a notice to quit is served.
