Quit Notice

In Nigeria
Last Updated: Mar 10, 2026
The quit notice given to me is invalid because no reason was given for issuing it and the name and address of the landlord are not in it.

Can I approach the court to seek an injunction to stop the landlord and his lawyer from enforcing the notice?

For a notice to quit to be valid, it must:
1. Contain a description of the property.
2. Comply with the length of notice stipulated in the tenancy laws or contained in your tenancy contract.
3. Name the landlord and show that the landlord has authorised his attorney in writing to issue the notice.
4. State the length of notice within the notice.
