In Pakistan
Last Updated: Feb 24, 2026
Hi, I worked with a contractor company in Qatar for 1 year; after that I resigned, served the notice period, and moved back to Pakistan. Now I have another job offer from Qatar, but my previous employer didn’t cancel my visa nor provide me an NOC. The new employer is asking to arrange an NOC. Need expert advice.

Dear Client,

Regarding your concern about the NOC and visa cancellation in Qatar:

NOC Status: Since 2020, Qatar has officially abolished the requirement for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to change jobs. You can legally start a new job without your previous employer's permission.

Visa Cancellation: If you have been outside Qatar for more than 6 months, your residence permit may expire automatically. However, for a new job offer, your previous visa must be formally cancelled in the system.

Action Plan: You should inform your new employer about the updated Qatar Labor Laws regarding NOC. If the previous employer is intentionally delaying the cancellation, you may contact the Labour Department (MADLSA) or the Pakistan Embassy in Qatar for assistance.

Best regards,
