Can someone please accept my case of divorce. Foreigner married to Sri Lankan. In Sri Lanka. I can't visit the country and he is postponing the divorce for a year. I need someone to act for me and go through the process. Thank you

Hello. Thank you for your inquiry via Lawzana. In order to advise and provide a fee quote, we would need to see a scan of your certificate of marriage. Please let me know whether or not there are any children from the marriage. Assuming that you were married under the General Marriages Ordinance, there are very limited grounds of divorce in Sri Lanka; (it is a fault based regime). Even if the Sri Lankan will not contest, your evidence would have to be led. If the Court allows, it may be possible for your evidence to be led by Zoom/Teams.
