I received a court ruling in Ukraine that I think is incorrect and want to challenge it. What are the proper steps to file an appeal with the appellate court, and should I also consider cassation? Also, what deadlines and ground rules apply, and can I represent myself or must I hire a lawyer?

It is not recommended that you appeal Court ruling by yourself. At the moment Ukrainian civil procedural code contains formal requirements failing to comply with which you will lose your right for appeal. Regarding the appealing process it starts with appeal claim properly formed and sent to the court of appeal or through electronic Court system. Court of appeal checks your claim and if everything is correct decides whether to consider the case with the notification of the parties or without one. In order to evaluate chances for appealing your court order of course attorney should have court decision text.

You have 30 days from the moment you received a full text of the court order.

Hello! Deadline in appealing depends on type of decision. If it is the final decision on the whole case, you can file an appeal during 30 days from its date or from receiving it, depending on circumstances. If you are not familiar with Ukrainian law, you better hire a lawyer to make all necessary steps. You can send us this court decision, and we will see if we can help you with your case
