Important facts:
- You can leave the UAE using your passport even if your visa is expired.
- Overstay fines may apply, but they can be settled at the airport or through immigration.
- A spouse cannot legally confine you or prevent you from leaving.
- Restricting your movement or withholding documents may be considered abuse.
Steps you can take:
1) Ensure you have your passport and personal documents.
2) If your husband is holding your passport, you may request police assistance to recover it.
3) Visit the nearest immigration office or airport immigration counter to check overstay fines and exit procedures.
4) Contact your embassy or consulate for protection and assistance with safe travel.
5) If you feel unsafe, go to a police station or a women's protection center for help.
If you cannot leave the house safely:
- Seek help from neighbors or building security.
- Contact your embassy emergency line for immediate support.
Your safety and health come first. Authorities and embassies can assist you in leaving safely even without your husband's cooperation.
