Regarding the clearance

In United Arab Emirates
Last Updated: Mar 28, 2026
Dear Sir/Madam,

I hope you are doing well. I would like to seek your legal advice regarding my UAE employment visa cancellation.

I resigned from my company while I was under probation and served the required 14-day notice period. The HR department informed me that they would need 14 days after my last working day to complete the documentation and process my visa and labour cancellation.

After completing my notice period, I waited for those 14 days and then left the UAE due to a family emergency. Currently, I am outside the UAE. However, the company is now informing me that the cancellation cannot be processed because I am not inside the country.

My last working location/address was Downtown, Dubai.

I would like to request your guidance on the correct legal steps in this situation. I also need the visa or labour cancellation certificate for my future employment.

Please let me know what action I should take to resolve this matter. My UAE mobile number is still active, and I can share the OTP if required for the cancellation process. [contact info removed]

Thank you for your time and assistance. I look forward to your advice.

Kind regards,
[name removed].

Hi Sir,

What your employer is telling you is a very common response — but it’s not entirely accurate.

In the UAE, visa and labour cancellations can still be processed even if the employee has already left the country. Your physical presence is not always a strict requirement, especially where the employment relationship has clearly ended and notice has been served.

Situations like this usually come down to internal company processes or reluctance from the employer, rather than an actual legal restriction.

The main concern here is ensuring that your visa and labour records are properly cancelled, otherwise it could affect future employment or re-entry into the UAE.

There are ways to resolve this from outside the country, but it needs to be handled correctly to avoid delays or complications.

If you’d like, feel free to reach out privately and I can guide you on how to get this sorted.

Regards,

Rakhi Rajeevan
