Visa Rejection due to security reason

In United Arab Emirates
Last Updated: Aug 15, 2024

I am currently in Abu Dhabi UAE on a visit visa. My company applied for a work permit for me but it was rejected by immigration citing "security reasons". I don't know how to resolve this. I went to Abu Dhabi immigration office but they didn't provide any further information to me. now the company is willing to re-apply but no one knows the exact issue of why it got rejected in the first place. All my documents are fine, I have no case, debt, or anything like that in my name. The company is not helping anymore. I just want to know how can i clear my name and first of all how do I find out the exact reason in the first place?

If your work permit was rejected for “security reasons,” you usually need to request an official review, check for any immigration or security flags, and apply for clearance before reapplying. This typically requires legal follow-up with the authorities.

A work permit rejection for "security reasons" in the UAE usually means the application was blocked during background screening by immigration or security authorities. Unfortunately, the exact reason is not disclosed to applicants or employers.

Common reasons for security rejections
- Similar name match with a person on a watchlist
- Previous immigration violations or overstays (in UAE or GCC)
- Deportation or bans from another GCC country
- Criminal record in another country
- National security screening flags
- Previous visa misuse or absconding reports

How to find out the issue
- Submit a reconsideration request through your employer or PRO.
- Request a status review with the relevant immigration authority.
- A legal representative can submit inquiries on your behalf.
- Check whether any GCC bans or alerts exist.

Possible solutions
- Reapply after correcting data (name spelling, passport details).
- Submit supporting documents such as police clearance and previous visa records.
- Apply through a different emirate or free zone (in some cases).
- If a security ban exists, only a formal clearance request may help.

Important: Reapplying without identifying the cause may result in repeated rejection.
