I wanted to know how possible it is to transition from a student permit to getting an Auto-entrepreneur permit, while offering your services mainly to another country (US based clients).

Dear,

Thank you for your question. If you are on a French student permit, you cannot directly become an auto-entrepreneur while keeping your student status. Foreign students must choose between being a student or becoming an auto-entrepreneur, unless you qualify for the Student-Entrepreneur Status (SNEE), which allows limited entrepreneurial activities under an educational framework.

However, if you wish to offer your services remotely to US-based clients while residing in France, you can do so as long as you are not acting as a freelancer in France without proper registration. Once you graduate or switch your status, you can register as a micro-entrepreneur to legally work for international clients, including those in the US. All income must be declared in France, and you will need to comply with French tax and social security rules.

yes it is possible to move from a student permit to a self employment permit but its not an automatic swich. you must apply for a new permit catgory. zambia does not have an auto-entrepreneur permit but the the self emploment permit serves the same purpose for freelancers and remote workers. you can offer services to US based clients provided that you first register a zambian busniess showing proof of income contracts and submit a business plan. immigration mainly checks the business legitimacy and that you work illegally while still on a student permit. if your documents are in order the transition is very achievable
