Can I report my lawyer in Panama for sharing my case details with the other side?

Thank you for raising this concern. In Panama, lawyers are generally bound by professional duties of confidentiality and loyalty to their clients. If private or sensitive information from your case was disclosed without your consent and outside what was reasonably required for representation, this may raise ethical concerns. Complaints about a lawyer’s conduct are typically made to the Colegio Nacional de Abogados (National Bar Association) or, in some cases, through the courts if the disclosure caused demonstrable harm. It is important to document exactly what was disclosed, when, and how it affected your case before deciding whether to pursue a formal complaint.
You are entitled to change lawyers at any stage of your case, and doing so does not automatically delay proceedings. A new lawyer can usually take over by filing a substitution of counsel and requesting the case file from your current lawyer. To minimize disruption, it is advisable to secure new representation before formally terminating the existing lawyer and to confirm any upcoming deadlines or hearings. If handled carefully, a change of lawyers can often be made smoothly while preserving your procedural position.
Sincerely,
