Disiplinærn nemnden is the disciplinary authority within Advokatforeningen's system for lawyers in Norway. It adjudicates complaints alleging professional misconduct or breaches of the Rules of Professional Conduct, ensuring due process and high standards across the profession. Operating as part of Advokatforeningen, the Nemnden upholds public confidence in the legal profession by delivering independent, well-reasoned decisions grounded in established ethical rules.

With a substantial and growing caseload, the Nemnden has demonstrated its ability to handle complex matters efficiently while maintaining transparent procedures. The body’s composition includes lawyers, judges and lay representatives, reflecting a balanced oversight framework designed to safeguard fairness and integrity in the disciplinary process. In 2023 the system moved to a single-instance model for discipline, which broadened the Nemnden’s role and workload, and the trend continued into 2024.
