North Uist Distillery

North Uist Distillery Co is a family-run craft distillery located at Nunton Steadings on the Isle of Benbecula in the Outer Hebrides. The company produces Downpour Gin and has a whisky program planned for the future, with Nunton Whisky anticipated in time. Founded in 2017 by Kate Macdonald and Jonny Ingledew, the operation has grown from a two-person start to a team of sixteen and has been named Scottish Gin Distillery of the Year for three consecutive years.

North Uist Distillery harnesses island ingredients and botanicals to craft premium spirits, reflecting its Hebridean heritage and its commitment to supporting the local community. The founders emphasise sustainable, flavour-forward production, evolving from a tabletop still to a dedicated production hall within Nunton Steadings, while continuing to tell the island story through every bottle.

The distillery delivers a welcoming visitor experience through the Nunton Steadings Visitor Centre, a Downpour Gin shop and Island Life Bar, and guided tastings and tours that explore the production process and the island's culture. North Uist Distillery also engages visitors with island life content and seasonal events, inviting guests to discover its products in an authentic Hebridean setting.
