Can I enforce a supplier contract in China if only WeChat chats confirm price and delivery?

I paid a 30% deposit to a supplier, but we never signed a formal written contract. Most terms were agreed in WeChat messages and a proforma invoice, and now they refuse to ship unless I pay more. Can I treat the chats as a binding contract and recover the deposit or force delivery?

Wechat chat records can also be used as evidence. As long as the supplier provides you with a PI and you accept it and make the payment according to the PI, the contract can be established and take effect. Of course, you have the right to demand that the contract be continued to be performed as stipulated. If the supplier fails to perform the contract, you have the right to demand that the other party refund the paid amount and bear the liability for breach of contract.
