We are an office community consisting of three male and two female lawyers. We advise you personally, comprehensively and interdisciplinary.
We support you in negotiations with private individuals, companies and authorities as well as administrative bodies or represent you in court. The aim is to avoid or settle conflicts in your interest. If this is not possible, we will represent you as a lawyer in the necessary proceedings.
Thanks to the different specializations in our office, there is an exchange on demanding and interdisciplinary mandates.

Employment & Labor
Labor law issues usually arise in connection with disputes regarding layoffs, overtime, job references and non-competition clauses. Labor law questions must also be answered if the employee has health or psychological problems.
Our focus is on the amicable settlement of these issues for employees and smaller SMEs. Before you act, it is worth getting advice.
If no agreement can be found, we will represent your interests in court proceedings.
Note: If a conflict becomes apparent, be sure to collect possible evidence such as payment receipts, memos, warnings, letters of termination, etc.
domestic staff
Many people work in private households as domestic help ("cleaning lady or cleaning man"). It is important for both the employer and the employee to regulate the employment relationship correctly. I advise and represent you in questions and problems arising from these employment relationships.
For people who work as domestic workers and have questions about the employment relationship, their wage entitlements or termination, I offer advice at a reduced rate after telephone registration (advice also in English or French).
The Basel-Stadt Office for Economics and Labor offers a variety of useful information and templates for standard employment contracts.
Criminal Defense
An effective criminal defense is committed to protecting and enforcing your rights and interests in criminal proceedings.
The basis for good cooperation is the relationship of trust between you and your defense. This is particularly protected by the attorney-client privilege. In general, your criminal defense lawyer can only advise you and define a defense strategy together with you if you provide him or her with comprehensive information and he or she has been able to view the files.
In principle, the Swiss Code of Criminal Procedure distinguishes between the electoral or requested defense and the official defense in different constellations.
In certain cases, such as serious allegations, you must be defended (necessary defence).
An accused person is entitled to appoint a lawyer to defend him/herself in every criminal proceeding and at every stage of the proceeding (defense by choice). For example, if you receive a summons for an interrogation, it is advisable to contact a defense in good time.
Even if you are arrested, you have the right to consult a lawyer for the first hearing (so-called lawyer of the first hour).
Juvenile criminal proceedings have special characteristics. In principle, several people, such as parents or teachers, are usually involved. Here, too, the core of good advice and support is the relationship of trust between the defense and the young person, which is protected by professional secrecy.
Family
Since 2013, the child and adult protection authorities have replaced the previous guardianship authorities at community level throughout Switzerland. The task of this authority consists in particular in the enforcement of protective measures for persons in need of protection. According to the Civil Code, children and young people (Art. 252 to 327c ZBG) as well as adults (Art. 360 to 455 ZGB) are in need of protection.
It is not uncommon for official measures to result in discrepancies and disputed regulations. Uncertainty and the feeling of being overwhelmed is often great. In these cases, we advise and represent you in dealings with the authorities.
We are committed to ensuring that children's rights are taken seriously. An important part of this is that minors are heard in the proceedings that directly affect them (at least in the case of non-simple encroachments on fundamental rights) and are represented by qualified specialists (right to a child advocate).
Dealing with legal issues related to the care of older people is often challenging. It stands in a field of conflict between assistance and the protection of the self-determination of the person concerned. We can support you here too.
