Fru Shella Chi

Fru Shella is an Attorney-at-law and the Managing Partner of CHI and Partners a technology-advisory law firm with head office in Cameroon. She’s equally the founder of Lawyer’s hub Cameroon and President of the Data Protection Practitioners Association. She is a member of the Cameroon Bar Association, the Nigerian Bar Association, and the International Bar Association.

She holds a Professional certificate in Fintech law with the University of Pennsylvanian, USA, and acts as an experienced Commercial lawyer. She emerged winner for the data privacy contest organised by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). She is a trained professional in Data protection, Financial Technology, Block chain Technology, Corporate and Commercial Law.

She specializes in Technology Law(FinTech,Healthtech,Edutech,Agritech), OHADA Corporate and commercial law ,Intellectual property, Energy and natural resources.
She advises local and foreign Investors on their projects within the OHADA zone with a focus on the setting up, regulatory compliance, Corporate governance, Mergers and acquisition , Joint-ventures, securities, debt recovery procedures, management, and dissolution of companies.

She equally advises major exporters on the specific sectors Cameroon has a comparative advantage to trade within Africa and beyond and on the regulatory conditions and procedures to comply with the export rules promoted by the Cameroon National AfCFTA Implementation Committee, as part of the National Strategy for the Implementation of AfCFTA. 

She has acted as lead counsel in a wide range of corporate and commercial briefs in the leading law firms she worked with within Cameroon and Nigeria. Where she offered start-up advisory, advised Fintech companies on payment services, remittances and against regulations on international transfers in the CEMAC, prepared Privacy policies and terms and conditions for several digital platforms and reviewed partnership agreements with license credit institutions.

She acts as speaker in major Technology and Data Privacy events in Africa like PrivCON Nigeria,International Institute of Certified Forensic Professionals Global Conference and JED Journee d’Entreprise Digital. She has authored several articles, including The growth of fintech in Cameroon, Data subjects Rights and how its implemented in Cameroon, Data Protection for African Start-ups, Cameroon Business Guide 2023 published by Cameroon Achiever’s Magazine ,Lawyers Hub Cameroon blog and on her LinkedIn Page.
