A seasoned and highly respected legal professional with a keen interest in Employment Law. Admitted to the Bar of Mauritius in January 2009, he brings to the table a wealth of experience, having served as the Director of Legal Services for Mauritius, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, and Egypt at Accenture. In this role, he offered strategic legal guidance to senior business leaders, collaborated with cross-functional teams, and effectively managed legal professionals across diverse jurisdictions.
His legal journey commenced with an LLB (Hons.) from the University of Mauritius, followed by the vocational examinations of the Council of Legal Education of Mauritius. Sayyad's professional expertise was particularly evident during his tenure at Accenture, where he was responsible for navigating complex HR issues within a corporate environment that employed over 4,000 individuals in Mauritius. This role entailed engaging daily with various aspects of employment law, ranging from complex disciplinary actions to intricate contract disputes, and managing sensitive corporate investigations.
Sayyad’s expertise in employment law is not just a result of his academic background but also of his extensive professional experience, giving him a profound understanding of both the legal principles and the dynamics of the workplace. His balanced approach in applying legal knowledge, strategic insight, and sensitivity towards human relations allows him to effectively resolve a diverse array of employment-related challenges.
Additionally, Sayyad excels in supporting Ventures & Acquisition teams in acquisitions and takeovers, demonstrating his ability to assess and manage legal risks in complex transactions. His extensive experience as a director in various countries has endowed him with an in-depth understanding of local regulatory compliance, and he frequently assists businesses in developing tailored compliance programs and initiatives.
Sayyad also brings a unique skill set in mediation and dispute resolution as an International Accredited Professional Mediator with the International Dispute Resolution and Risk Management Institute of Hong Kong.
Also committed to the dissemination of knowledge, he is a lecturer in law at various universities and leads training sessions on Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) and is a fellow member of the Mauritius Institute of Directors (MiOD).
