Steven was born in Aberdeen and after a brief spell in Cambridge returned to the city to study Law at the University of Aberdeen. Steven undertook his traineeship with a national Firm and qualified as a solicitor in 2014 and joined James & George Collie in February 2017.
Steven deals with a wide range of business transactions, including the acquisition, disposal, leasing of, investment in and refinancing of all types of commercial property.
In his spare time Steven enjoys spending time with his young family as well as trail running, golf and supporting his local football team.

Mark has over 15 years post-qualified experience, specialising in residential conveyancing, wills and powers of attorney.
Mark focuses primarily on helping clients with the purchase, sale or re-mortgage of residential property as he enjoys adding value to these transactions whether that be through helping to negotiate a good price or providing a friendly, stress-diminishing role in navigating his clients through the often stressful period of moving home.
Mark has significant knowledge of Land and Buildings Transaction Tax (LBTT) and Additional Dwelling Supplement (ADS) rules. Mark also deals with complex conveyancing and other ancillary conveyancing matters including deeds of servitude, contracts of excambion and voluntary registrations.
Mark is a devoted husband and father who, when out of the office, enjoys spending most of his time with his wife and young children.
When Mark has a rare spare moment he is also interested in reading, watching football, listening to music and occasionally visiting the gym.

An Aberdonian, Duncan obtained his law degree from Aberdeen University. After a predominantly Court related traineeship with well-known Court lawyer Frank Lefevre, Duncan joined Collies in 1986. Duncan is the head of our Court department and practices dispute resolution and civil litigation including Lands Tribunal cases. Duncan has many years’ experience and expertise in in media law, contractual disputes, personal injury claims and insolvency cases. Duncan also acts in family and divorce cases. He is firm’s Cashroom Manager, Anti-Money Laundering Officer and Client Relations Partner.
A long-time member, Duncan Love was elected as 2022 president of the Society of Advocates in Aberdeen.
Married with 3 children, Duncan, a keen rugby player in his day, now enjoys watching his children in their various sporting endeavours. He has always enjoyed playing guitar and plays in a couple of local bands from time to time; but won’t be giving up the day job any time soon!

Forbes McLennan was educated at Aberdeen Grammar School and Aberdeen University. He joined the firm as a partner in 2005, having previously been a partner in the long established local firm of Cooper & Hay. He has been in private practice since 1981 and has dealt with a wide variety of legal work. He now concentrates on conveyancing and private client work and is also the partner in charge of our Residential Leasing department. Forbes is accredited as a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), a worldwide body which conducts the registration of trust and estate practitioners. He is a member of the Annuity Fund Committee of the Society of Advocates in Aberdeen and represents the Society as a trustee of the Robert Nicol Trust which provides financial assistance for deserving students with connections to Aberdeen. He is also a committee member of Tenovus Scotland Grampian Branch which helps support pilot medical research locally in Aberdeen and North East Scotland.
Outside of work Forbes diverse interests include golf, literature, football and classical music. He is a member of Royal Aberdeen Golf Club and the Scottish Seniors Golfing Society.

Brian graduated from Aberdeen University with an honours degree in law before obtaining a diploma in legal practice, going on to qualify as a solicitor in 1997.
Brian has been with James & George Collie since 2008 having previously been a partner in two other local firms, building up a wealth of experience in residential purchases and sales, remortgages, commercial property transactions, wills, powers of attorney and executries. He was appointed resident partner in James & George Collie’s property sales office in 2011.
Brian made a guest appearance on the BBC programme “Escape to the Country” and has been interviewed for comment on the local property market by both press and radio.
Brian is a keen amateur weightlifter, dedicating much time and effort to the art of squatting, deadlifting and bench pressing. Weekends are largely spent at various dressage venues, being groom to his partner’s competition horses.
