Intellectual Property
In North Macedonia, intellectual property rights had been regulated in accordance with the Law on Industrial Property.
In accordance with this law, it is stated that the regulated industrial property rights are patent, industrial design, trademark, the appellation of origin, and geographical indications.
The law states that the patent shall be used for the protection of the invention. The industrial design shall be used for the protection of new forms of the body, picture, drawing, contour, the composition of colors, or their combination – design. The trademark shall be used for the protection of trade signs. The appellation of origin and geographical indication shall be used for the protection of the geographical name.
Further, in accordance with this law, entities of industrial property rights shall be national and foreign legal and natural persons. The foreign legal and natural persons shall enjoy the same rights as the national legal and natural persons, in accordance with this Law, with regard to the protection of the industrial property rights in the Republic of North Macedonia, provided that this is in accordance with the international agreements and conventions or from the application of the principle of reciprocity.
The works related to the acquiring and protection of industrial property rights shall be performed by the State Office of Industrial Property. The Office is an administrative organization with the status of an independent state administrative body with responsibilities laid down with this or other laws. The seat of the Office is in Skopje.

Vedran Lalicic is born and lives in Skopje. He achieved his education at the Law faculty in Skopje – Justinian I, after which he specialised in the business law, finalising his master’s theme “Modern positive legal trends in the operation of the trade companies in the Republic of Macedonia”. His work experience includes working at a law office, notary public, and the public sector.
In the course of its operations, he is involved in various projects and legal matters from the field of civil and business law, where he gained experience in providing legal and consulting support of business entities and physical persons, the preparation and analysis of legal documentation, as well as the representation of its clients in front of the competent courts and authorities.
While working in the health sector, he gained the professional preparation for counseling about the property and legal issues, as well as all the specifics about the setting up of agreements for the transfer, separation, disposal, and restriction of real property, movable assets, and rights.
