  • Procedure flow when hiring foreigners living overseas

In order to hire a foreigner residing overseas, it is common practice to first apply to the Immigration Bureau for a Certificate of Eligibility and obtain a Certificate of Eligibility. The period until a Certificate of Eligibility is issued varies on a case-by-case basis, but it is not uncommon for it to take several months.
Once the Certificate of Eligibility has been issued, it will be sent to the foreign national in the foreign country. Foreign nationals who have received a Certificate of Eligibility will go to their local Japanese embassy or consulate and apply for a visa. Once your visa has been issued, you can enter Japan.
