Narrative description of project:

The project involved setting up a defence for Kenya Sugar Board (defunct) against petitions, plaints and memorandum of claims. Most of the matters are novel in nature and has never been adjudicated upon before.

This involve taking instructions from client, conducting client conferences to get a full description of the case to assess which area of law it lies, requesting relevant documents for the case, research on the relevant case law, advising client on action plan and assisting client to make an informed decision, preparation of pleadings, witness statements and relevant case authorities, attending court, briefing client on case as it proceeds Extensive research and a arguable defence is build that ensures success. 

Further, the task involve drafting of legal opinions where and when needed to avail the same, conducting research for specific legal queries posed and advising the client on how best to mitigate against future litigation. This is achieved through conducting an in depth analysis of the contractual engagements undertaken by the client.
